Questions answered

Things people wonder before they begin.

Honest answers to the most common questions about therapy, the process, and what to expect.

How long is a typical session?
Standard sessions run 50 minutes. Couples and family sessions are 75–90 minutes. The first 15-minute consultation call is free.
Do you offer online therapy?
Yes — secure video sessions are available anywhere in India. In-person sessions are held at my Shivranjani, Ahmedabad clinic.
Is everything we discuss confidential?
Yes, with the small legal exceptions every Indian licensed psychologist must follow (risk to self or others, child safety). These exceptions are explained in the consent form you sign before we begin.
What does it cost?
Individual sessions are ₹2,500. Couples and family sessions are ₹3,500. Reduced-fee slots are available on request — please mention it when you reach out.
What happens in the first session?
The first full session is an intake — we talk about what's brought you in, your history, and what you're hoping for. It's also your chance to see how you feel talking with me. There's no pressure to commit to anything.
How many sessions will I need?
It genuinely varies. Some people feel ready to stop after 8–10 sessions; others prefer ongoing support for months. We review this together regularly, so you're never locked in.
Do you prescribe medication?
No — I'm a psychologist, not a psychiatrist. I don't prescribe medication. If medication might help, I can refer you to a trusted psychiatrist and we can work alongside each other.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please cancel at least 24 hours before your appointment. Late cancellations and no-shows may be charged at 50% of the session fee. I understand emergencies happen — just let me know.
Can I bring a family member to my session?
For individual therapy, sessions are private. If you'd like a family member involved at some point, we can discuss that — sometimes a joint session is genuinely useful.
Do you offer emergency or crisis support?
I'm not a crisis service. If you're in immediate danger, please call iCall (9152987821) or Vandrevala Foundation (1860-2662-345), or go to your nearest hospital emergency. For non-urgent concerns between sessions, send me a message and I'll respond as soon as I can.
